This color has been certified at 41.41% total dye load. If this item is stored in an airtight container with extremely limited exposure to humidity, it will not expire.
Colorants, which are subject to batch certification regulations MUST be batch certified or they ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BE USED IN PRODUCTS INTENDED FOR SALE. If you buy dyes or aluminum lakes and you create and sell your products in the United States, those powders must be batch certified or you are breaching FDA regulations.
When making bath bombs, bubble bars or bath salts, we recommend using polysorbate 80 in the liquid stage at 1.5 - 2%. This is because the aluminum lakes are oil dispersible but not oil soluble or water soluble.
Color: Produces a brilliant, color in clear bases, but will cloud clear bases. A pastel pink color is achieved in opaque (white) bases.
Color Migration: When compared to FD & C Dyes, lake dyes are less likely to migrate between layers of mp soap. If product design has layered colors, over use of this dye will cause colored layers to migrate or “bleeding” between layers. A small amount of this color can be used “brighten” pigment colours, with little to no chance of color migration.
Physical Form: Red Powder
Solubility: Insoluble. Dispersible in oil
Storage: Keep product away from humidity, in room temperature and in an airtight container always.
Shelf Life: Indefinite if stored properly in an airtight container.
DIRECTIONS: Powder disperses best in oil and oil based products. This powder can be used in water based products if first dissolved in liquid glycerin. For dry products, add desired amount of powder to dry ingredients. Incorporate color to formula by adding very small amounts at a time.
TIPS: A little goes a LONG WAY, so keep this in mind when using. Use latex or nitrile gloves and protect the surfaces you are working on, as these colors are very concentrated and will stain clothes, counter tops and hands. Using too much dye may cause staining while manufacturing and when final product is used. Test your final product to insure optimal performance with no staining.
Re: FDA Batch Certification
Mad Oils, Inc (parent company of Mad Micas) has been repack certified. This means that we are certified by the FDA to repack our larger quantities into smaller containers. Every container is certified under the repack certification with an FDA issued Lot Number and our batch number that FDA has given to us for this batch. Their laboratory determines the Batch Number along with the percent of dye load it contains before we sell it.
